Rowing is a funny sport, well it’s a unique sport in that it uses all the major muscle groups of the body and it…I guess the main thing is you see some crazy techniques on the rowing machines down at the gymnasium. I suppose you’ve seen one or two people and they’re doing some disastrous stuff on those machines.
In simple forms it’s basically like doing a clean. You know how a weightlifter when they do that first clean movement from the floor, and they lift the machine…. the barbell up to that point, well if you imagine that, only in the seated position, instead of a big bar you’ve got a couple of handles, and you basically do that….replicate that exact movement, where you push the legs first as if you are standing up, and then your body opens up and then in the last minute you bring your arms in, and that is exactly the same, and that’s the most easy way I think I can illustrate it.
