Interviewer 2

Linda, was there anybody else in the background that you asked to support you with those goals? Was it enough to have then written down, do you need someone else to share that goal, that dream with, just to keep you on track, to keep you focussed?

Linda

Yeah I think the goals basically came around from people who believed in what you have, and I think a very key thing – and it’s great that you asked the question, is listening to those around you, particularly people who want to instil a dream for you, and who believe that you are able to do something. And for me I always had coaches, who always said, “You can do really well and go really far.”

And if you are the type of person who is quite humble and would only think, “Oh yeah, right Miss.” You know you actually need to listen to those people and start believing in yourself, because others can believe in what you do, and you just need to have the same belief, method, and really go for it, and try. There is no harm in trying, and you know if you fail well then fine, just pick yourself up again, and go again. And that is something that I see in a lot of teenagers and a lot of youth that I work with, they try something once, and then just give up. I think the best thing you can do is just pick yourself up again, because that is one more time that you are successful over your failures.
