- What has kept you inspired and motivated to keep writing, and what has kept you where you are today as a NZ icon?

Having a thick hide, not giving in in spite of many many rejections in the early days, I mean other people would have sat down and buried their heads. I just kept on going because that’s me I guess. Do keep going, sometimes for some people it can be a very long apprenticeship; it was for me. But you get there in the end.
I loved writing. I enjoyed the experience, and getting published wasn’t so much the goal, the actual writing, the journey was important rather than the destination.
