How do you get your ideas for your books?

The problem with ideas is that there are too many of them around, we have to hone in on one particular thing. Write about something that gives you quite a lot of feeling, a lot of emotion, that’s usually a good thing to write about. If you write from the heart it will work, if your write from your head often it doesn’t work. Vita, would you like to add to that?

Yeah I guess the best thing to write about is your own life experiences, or your friends life experiences, or something that you’ve read, or something that you feel strongly about. There’s heaps of stuff that happens in the world, we’ve all got friends, parents, boyfriends, girlfriends, pets, teachers, there is so much stuff to write about.

What was the topic of your story Vita last year.

It was just about a young woman who wanted to express herself artistically and was trying to find a way to do that, so she runs away from home cause she thinks it might be a cool thing to do, and then she realises that it was a lot harder than she thought.
