You would need that if we didn’t improve our efficiencies. We are greatly improving our efficiencies, and of course we won’t continue to burn fossil fuels. We have more than enough energy. There are orders of magnitude, more energy than the population of this planet will ever need if we can just find a way to close the energy cycle from the sun. The fact that we have chosen to do a cheap and what seems to be an efficient thing to do just hauling carbonised fuel out of the ground, seems to be a simpler solution because it doesn’t take as much technology, as much ambition at the moment, but we will fix that problem. Once we have the energy source we can make as much as we want, as cheaply as we want and all the world can share in that.
