Jo McVeagh

Jo joined an environmental group and the student council while she was at school, where she helped to clean up local beaches and encouraged school recycling. After high school Jo studied ecology and did volunteer work with as many environmental groups as possible. In February 2006, Jo began working at Greenpeace, New Zealand, first as the campaigner for whales, and more recently with the climate team. She believes that to solve most environmental issues, it is important for everyone to do their part by looking after the environment and each other, and encouraging others to do so too. It is up to all of us to act quickly.

Participating schools:

  • Te Ranga Primary School
  • Maniototo Area School
  • Roxburgh Area School
  • Aurora College
  • Papakura High School
