- Wellington High School student
- We’ve got a lot of primary schools watching and questioning here. What kind of audience were you going for when you scripted/produced the series? And how did you target them?

We wanted this to be a viewing for all New Zealanders, and for families. It’s very difficult to do though. It’s very difficult to make a history that actually works across a huge/wide age range. But what we hope is that in this there is enough drama and stories that it will actually engage all ages. It is a difficult task, because we are looking at a family viewing audience. What we are hoping is that the books may help (the book that one of you have got there today is the coffee table book, the hard copy book), but there are other books coming out very soon – four volumes of books coming out – which are actually designed for school/slightly younger age than that, and would be much more approachable for younger viewers. I’m hoping by the time that we, the series…by Christmas, we will have resources. Of course the website is going to help do that as well. The website at the moment on TVNZ is designed to be accessible/approachable/understood by a wide range of ages, and the educational website is going to also be designed to help make sense of the series for the school curriculum and for a greater range of ages.
