Student:
I was wondering if it's true whether or not the gorilla's DNA is most compatible with human DNA?

Andy:
I think gorilla and human DNA is about 98 percent.

Robin:
It's very close.

Andy:
It's very, very similar.

Lucy:
Wow.

Robin:
So you almost have to wonder is how a gorilla and a person can look so different because we do have a lot of the same DNA and the same would be true of chimpanzees and other primates.

Lucy:
Is it the same generally for any animals or is it just the primate family that we are most similar to?

Robin:
We're most similar to the primates but then it gets less and less so all mammals have something in common, but then if you look at mammals and amphibians like lizards then there would be less. So as you go down you get more and more different - the differences become more and more.
