Dr Robin Cotton discuss the how small a DNA sample can be

There's one other kind of cool thing that we haven't talked about and that is how small a sample we can use.

So we can see on the video that some of you are taking notes. So if you left your pencil there and we swabbed it, with like a q-tip with some water on it, we could get your sample from that pencil.

Or if you take a drink from a glass, or from the shirt that you're wearing.

So it doesn't take very much to leave a DNA sample.
