Careers in Cookery
On Wednesday 6 June join us for a panel discussion about career options within the hospitality industry. Students will have the chance to ask questions about the experiences of our guests working in this industry and the opportunities such a career path may offer. For the budding chefs out there we will also include some food preparation to inspire you!
Our panel of guests will include:
Adam Newell
Pauline Nunns
Adam Newell
One of only two Michelin star-rated chefs in New Zealand, Adam Newell is the owner of Wellington restaurant Zibibbo. Adam is a regular chef presenter on TV One’s Good Morning breakfast show and has recently published a collection of innovative recipes that capture his own unique style. To find out more about Adam’s restaurant and cookbook take a look at http://www.zibibbo.co.nz/
Pauline Nunns
Currently holder of the New Zealand Pastry Chef of the Nation title and a patisserie chef and tutor at Weltec’s School of Hospitality, Pauline discovered early in her career a passion for cake decorating and her cakes literally are edible works of art. Pauline is one of six New Zealand chefs making up the New Zealand Culinary Team preparing to compete in the American Culinary Classic in Chicago in May this year. This event is considered to be one of the world’s top culinary competitions involving teams from 11 other countries. To find out more about the hospitality courses offered by Weltec take a look at http://www.cit.ac.nz/hospitality/
Christina Thompson and Jay Woodhams
Our panel will also include two Commis chefs currently undertaking courses through the Weltec hospitality programme. Christina and Jay will share their experiences of the training and the plans they have for the future once their courses are complete.
Adam, Pauline and our apprentices look forward to the students’ questions about any of the content they cover during the videoconference.
