Rob Hamill rose to international attention when he smashed the world record for the Atlantic Rowing Race in 1997 with rowing partner Phil Stubbs.
41 days, 2 hours, 55 minutes, 14kg of body weight and a lot of chocolate bars later, Phil arrived in Barbados.
Not one to sit still, the former Olympic and World Championship rower was a part of the next two winning Atlantic campaigns and set a World Record for indoor rowing.
He is now involved in organising rowing events such as The Great Race and the trans-Tasman Bridge to Bridge Challenge, as well as appearing as a motivational speaker.
