About the panel
Nick Bollinger worked as a postie and trained as a teacher before finding an outlet for his musical obsession as a record reviewer and rock journalist. He is a regular contributor to the New Zealand Listener and has written for Mojo, Rhythms, International Arts Manager, Rip It Up, The New Zealand Herald and many other national and international publications. Since 2001, he has written, produced and presented the music review programme The Sampler for New Zealand's National Radio. Nick was the curator for Sound Design, Kiwi Style, an exhibition of New Zealand record cover design, which toured the country from 2002 to 2004. His first book, How to Listen to Pop Music, was also published in 2004. |

Linda Burgess is a short story writer, novelist and reviewer. She was educated at Massey University, where she was Writer in Residence in 1997. She has published two collections of short stories, Between Friends (1994), which was shortlisted for the Best First Book of Fiction the 1995 Montana New Zealand Book Awards, and Remember Me (1997). She has also written a novel On the Grapevine (1996), Safe Sex: An Email Romance (1997) with Stephen Stratford, and Allons Enfants (2000), about her family's time living in France. Linda Burgess is a regular book and television reviewer for The Dominion Post and has also reviewed books in New Zealand Books. |

Laura Kroetsch came to New Zealand from the United States on a Fulbright Grant to study women's autobiographical writing in New Zealand, and completed her MA at Victoria University. A former bookseller with Victoria University Bookshop and now a practising writer, Laura has reviewed books for most major New Zealand publications including The Listener, Landfall, New Zealand Books, Metro, and The Dominion Post. She has also been a regular reviewer on National Radio and on TV One's Good Morning programme. In 2002, she completed Bill Manhire's Creative Writing Course. Her creative work has appeared in Sport and on Turbine. She was a judge for the Montana New Zealand Book Awards in 2005. |
