Join a video conference with Jock Phillips, general editor of Te Ara, the new online Encyclopaedia of New Zealand, to learn the stories of immigrants to New Zealand.
Find out about:
- the general history of immigration in New Zealand
- where did the immigrants come from?
- what time periods in history had large amounts of immigration?
- what caused these immigration patterns?
This video conference will also cover the experiences of specific different immigrant groups, such as the Scottish, the Irish, the Chinese, the Samoans and the Dutch.
An opportunity to discuss with Jock Phillips, one of New Zealand's leading historians, the differences and similarities of their motivations in coming to New Zealand, their journeys and the treatment that they received when they arrived in the country.
