Te Papa Talks series – Culture Moves: Dance

On Thursday October 13th between 1.30 – 2.30pm, join our videoconference with some of Te Papa's staff

Join us to learn more about some of the different forms and styles of dance and dance costumes of the Pacific. This is a fantastic opportunity to ask some questions of Te Papa's experts.

Find out about:

  • Different costumes worn for dance in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Different costumes worn for dance from other regions in the Pacific
  • Customary and contemporary materials used to make dance costumes
  • Different forms of dance from various regions in the Pacific
  • Some basic dance movements from selected Pacific regions
  • What is the significance of dance here in Aotearoa New Zealand?

Prepare some amazing questions for these beautiful people and be dazzled by their knowledge on this very interesting subject. Perhaps you'd like to try some of the dance movements?

These very knowledgeable people will bring with them some of Te Papa's tactile collection of costumes and many images of historical and contemporary costumes.
