2004 is a milestone year in New Zealand politics – representing the 30th anniversary of the lowering of the voting age from 20 to 18. To mark this anniversary, the Minister of Education will share his knowledge as a Member of Parliament (MP) to help students better understand how Parliament works.

Learn about:

  • Parliamentary systems and processes
  • What an MP actually does
  • The difference between an MP and a Cabinet Minister
  • The difference between the roles of Government MP and Opposition MP
  • How to become an MP
  • What it's really like in the debating chamber.

This is a great opportunity to learn about Parliament from someone who experiences it first hand every day. We thank the Minister for kindly donating his time.
