James began his career in the New Zealand film industry working as a lighting technician with the miniatures unit for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, where he learnt how to create Hollywood-style special effects. He has applied all he knows about on-screen trickery to his promising music video directing career. James is currently writing his first short film while still working on TV commercials and music videos.
